In 2016, the Nutan Vidya Mandir Education Society has completed its centenary year. Late Sow Kamaltai Jamkar Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Parbhani was incepted during June 1983 under the leadership of the visionary leader Bharat Bhushan Late Shri Raosahebji Jamkar, former Minister of States, Government of Maharashtra and his comrades, Subhedar Bandhu and others including freedom fighters of Marathwada Liberation Movement who strived to liberate Marathwada region from the brutal tyranny of the Nizam rule. Late Shri Raosaheb Jamkar, Former Minister of States, Maharashtra, had been one of the pillar strengths shaping the Constitution of the Nutan Vidya Mandir Education Society, Parbhani. Late Sow Kamaltai Jamkar Mahila Mahavidyalaya is the manifestation of his socially and intellectually fostered desire to bring women of the so-called backward region of Parbhani area to the mainstream with a vision based on equality for women. Parbhani is renowned as one of the districts of Marathwada region that is supposed to be lagging behind in overall development in comparison with the rest of the Maharashtra State. Late Shri Raosaheb Jamkar was quite aware of the trailing status of Parbhani district due to traditional set up, hence, he came out prominently with his inventive perception for the benefit of women of the district and laid foundation of the First Women’s College in Parbhani. He realized his dream through the inception of this women’s college in the city of Parbhani during June 1983 that has been later named as Late Sow Kamaltai Jamkar Mahila Mahavidyalaya in the memory of his wife, Late Sow Kamaltai Jamkar.
Late Sow Kamaltai Jamkar Mahila Mahavidyalaya is about to step in its fortieth successful year devoted to the noble cause of disseminating higher education to women of the area to achieve the mission of Women Empowerment. The institution has gained immense popularity being the prime teaching-learning institute entirely devoted to the upliftment of women’s education. With this substantially gained status, it aspires to face 4th NAAC accreditation cycle. Since its inception it has achieved milestones in the field of education by creating complete personalities as the continuum of its vision.
Late Sow Kamaltai Jamkar Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Parbhani plays a vital role in transforming women as empowered citizens and entrepreneurs tuned to the demand of the enormous changes in the world scenario. It is the first women’s college in Parbhani. Initially, started with B. A. and B. Com. programmes. The institution now runs 4 UG (B. A., B. COM., B. C. A., B. VOC. (Fashion Technology)) and 4 PG (M.A. (Music), M Sc (CS), M.Com, M. Voc (Fashion Technology) programmes. This move has added feather to the crown of the institution as the most applauded academic programmes by the community as well as the experts.
Moreover, employability-oriented courses like Fashion Designing (COC), Home Science, Music, Yoga, Arabic Language, Writing Skills, Spoken English etc. rationally contribute in transforming the students into employable citizens of the society. Furthermore, value added courses, certificate courses and add-on courses also are better options for the girl students of the area.
In all, the institution runs 4 UG, 4 PG and 27 Diploma/Certificate Courses, 3 certificate courses in collaboration with CASI Global Academy and SWAYAM Online Courses during the last five years. Institution received 2f and 12B from UGC. In the year 2015-16 institution has been awarded College with Potential for Excellence (CPE) status from UGC. Institution has been accredited in first cycle with B+ Grade (2004), in second cycle with ‘A’ Grade with 3.02 CGPA (2013) and in third cycle with B++ with 2.92 CGPA (2018). Institution received Best College Award by affiliating University in the year 2012-13. It has been enlisted as a Lead College by affiliating University.
